1.          It was Sarah's turn to wash the dishes last night. She removed the dirty dishes from the table. She piled them in the sink and rinsed them. She put them in the dishwasher. She turned on the dishwasher. Finally, the dishes were clean. She put the clean dishes away.

2.          Tom went to the library to get a book. He went to the computer catalog. He wrote down the title and call number of the book. He went to the bookshelf, but the book wasn't there. He told the librarian he wanted to reserve that book. The librarian told him to fill out a form. He filled it out and left.

3.          Our vacation in Florida last month was almost perfect. Our good fortune began at the airport. The airline had oversold economy class seats, so we got to sit in the first class. Our good fortune continued at the hotel. The hotel manager apologized for not having our room ready when we arrived. He gave us a room with an ocean view. The hotel manager also gave us coupons for lots of free things. The weather was warm and sunny, so we went to the beach everyday. We can't wait to visit Florida again.
